7’s Day at The Shop

A Family Affair.

A family affair. That’s the best way to explain 7’s day at The Shop. A couple years ago I swore off “car meets” and “car shows” as they generally became too filled with people that stopped caring about what brought us all together, and instead cared about what made them famous on the ‘gram, tiktok, or whatever popular social media app is currently in the zeitgeist.

Instead what I got was a group of likeminded individuals showcasing their cars to their friends, eating delicious cupcakes, and listening to great music. A place for people to remain calm, learn more about their cars, and redevelop and redefine their love for the culture.

I asked a few friends and followers what I should bring to this event. We decided on an A7IV and a 70-200mm lens. This forced me to focus a little more on the details, and the people, as opposed to taking the same shot of every car with a wide angle lens. This was refreshing, focusing on the “meet” aspect of the car meet gave me a revitalizing view of the “car world”, reminding myself that not everyone is a clout chasing doofus.

Overall, laughs were had, engines were stared at, rotors were spun, and even the occasional piston cycled. The event was a success, and maybe I’ll reconsider going to car events from now on.
